Hair treatment

Some girls are blessed with beautiful thick lustrous hair. They may have natural cascading curls or waterfall straight hair but either way they are beautiful and perfect without the need for curling tongs or hair straightening irons. But alas 99.9% of us aren’t blessed with the such celestial features so we have no choice but to turn to the use of ‘hair styling tools’ and nasty chemicals to help us forge such features – even if the effects aren’t permanent while the damage probably will be.
So here we are again on the topic of beautiful hair and how we all just are never happy with what we have. I have thick wavy hair am I really love it but on some days it honestly drives me crazy because it just absolutely refuses to be decent – that means curls in all the wrong directions and waves in another leaving me with no choice but to tie it all up. Surely many encounter the same distress…

Others might find their irritation a tad more advanced because they would wish for the opposite of what they have – curls want straight and straight want curls; the results? Daily use of curling tongs or the straightening irons which obviously leaves your hair parched.

Now we all know if we are to use heat in our styling routine then we must nurture our with more moisture than usual. Salons will sell you fancy priced products that promise you ‘protection’, ‘hold’ and ‘sheen’ but the fact is, these products will just coat your hair to give it that false sense of health.

My advice is if you can’t style your hair naturally using methods such as ‘paper bag curls’ then at least nurture it back to health the natural way. It won’t cost you anything more than those chemical laced products and for certain it will not add to your hair’s damage.

My healthy hair routine involves the use of carrier oil and an essential oil.

My personal favourite is calendula oil with a drop of geranium oil – smoothes the frizz, encourages healthy hair growth and smells absolutely divine!
Alternatively you could use the following:

  • Carrier oil/nourishing oil for hair – grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil (don’t worry the aromatherapy grade oil is scentless), almond oil
  • Essential Oil for added therapeutic properties – lavender, rosemary, bay, basil

Go ahead and try it. I swear by it for the maintenance of my hair…
