Etsy is a great little spot to do some shopping: you’ll find handmade, creative offerings. Many of them are made from reclaimed items or recycled materials, and they are all unique. Here are a few of my favorite recent Etsy finds.
- Southern Vermont Soap offers homemade soap (in unscented and scented versions) as well as Whipped Body Cream, Whipped Sugar Scrub, Soy Candles, and Lip Balm (which is completely vegan). Here’s a little description of the soap: “At Southern Vermont Soap, we use only all natural vegetable oils including Olive, Soybean, Coconut, Castor, Canola, and Shea Oils, just to name a few. Each oil is carefully chosen for its lathering and moisturizing properties in soap. Essential and fragrance oils contribute scent; natural and cosmetic-grade pigments impart color; and botanicals & spices add texture.” All the products really look good enough to eat.
- Handmade Naturals offers “fresh and sustainable design for little ones.” There is not a large selection, but every item is unique and organic. This is where I am shopping for the next friend who gets pregnant, and the seller offers complimentary gift wrap. I love the Savvy Bibs and I am ordering some Baby GrowHats for my own little ones. Talk about sustainable. These hats are made of organic cotton knit, and designed to stretch comfortably with your little one so the hats last from infancy to toddlerhood. Considering the pile of outgrown baby hats I am currently housing, this is a worthwhile purchase.
- Pony Up Designs offers an alternative to disposable flatware for those who need to eat on the go. I love the Eco Friendly Flatware Set: it’s a “a sturdy case made from sturdy, reclaimed cotton fabric, a bamboo flatware set with chopsticks and a small cotton/bamboo napkin.” What a great idea. It rolls up and would easily fit in your lunch bag. And it looks great, too. Pony Up also sells these flatware sets filled with antique flatware pieces and eco-friendly toddler-sized flatware sets. While you’re there, check out the recycled notepads and reclaimed napkin sets (made from reclaimed fabric).

I love bare feet, Dr. Bronner's, cotton skirts, summer rain, winter snow, new places, open-minded people, deep conversations.
