There’s an old saying that goes, “those who dare to ask, shall receive” and there is every bit of truth to it except they didn’t explain that life isn’t that simple and we’re all very complex creatures. Thus you’ll find that we all have things (a great many number of things to be precise) we want and what we receive in return for our requests isn’t always that straight forward. Take for example, some of us may ask for long flowing hair but since it is quite impossible to grow your hair out 10 inches long overnight, we’re given the solution of hair extensions.
Now some of us (myself especially) would if I could ask from “Santa” cheeks that are naturally rosy because:
- 1. I love that flushed look
- 2. It makes you look fresh and healthy
- 3. It is synonymous with youth
But unless I wake up with a mild case of rosacea which I don’t need or want naturally flushed cheeks is not just going to happen for me. So what was then the ‘ given’ to make my request happen? Non other than the invention of ‘pink in a box’ otherwise known as blusher! And here’s where the complexity of mankind begins…I’m not happy with just ‘blusher’ because I don’t want to put chemicals on my face and actually risk developing rosacea!
If you’re in a situation similar to mine then don’t worry because you can easily make your own cheek tint and the best part of making your own is the money you save and the unbelievably natural looking effect you will be able to achieve. You can probably find a few version of the recipe but personally I use the following:
- 1. Beet powder
- 2. Rose petals
- 3. Calendula Oil
Blend all 3 ingredients together, adjusting to get your desired shade and consistency then add a drop of rose or rose geranium essential oil to reap the full benefits of nurturing your skin while succumbing to vanity!
There are many other natural pigments you can use to achieve the shade you like such as berries but just remember to select a complimenting ‘scent’ of essential oil. Also make only a small amount at a time -a lip balm jar full is sufficient, because like all things natural time will take its toll on it.
The blush will go on like a translucent rose tint – very natural and very good for your skin!
