When we want to go green with our lights, it isn’t always or just about the bulbs and the watts they come in. Sure those make a huge difference to both the greens of the environment and that of our already depressed wallets but so do the lighting fixtures we fit them into.

Therefore, if you are currently remodelling or furnishing your house or maybe even an office, then do consider going green beyond just using energy saving bulbs but invest in the use of eco-friendly and earth sustainable light fittings. ...

Tannin

From our last article we pretty much summed up what the leather tanning process was for – to change raw hide into the stable durable material, leather.  But in light of the “green lovers/awareness era” every so often we hear about products being made of eco friendly leather. Now is there really such a thing as eco-friendly leather or is it simply just a gimmick, another devious marketing ploy to boost the sales of conglomerates?

Well the truth is I’m not sure if we can ever say leather has zero environmental impact because to say that would be the same as saying ...

How well do you know your handbag?

Leather has long been part of our lives, despite the controversy that arises from its uses; leather is pretty much embedded in practicalities of almost every one of the modern industries. From the fashion catwalks to the factory floors of the heavy industry or our modest/elaborate homes to the white halls of the hospitals, leather you will find is ever present to serve as aid or accessory.

Now although its use is so widespread, you find it alarming to learn how there is only such little awareness about it.  Not too certain that’s ...

Latin is an amazingly beautiful language. With the historical origins of being the Italic language historically spoken in Latium and Ancient Rome, it is the ancestral language of the modern Romance languages: Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Catalan, etc. In today’s modern world, Latin survives but only barely as the lingua franca of the highly educated classes in the West. Its survival is further reinforced by the adoption of Latin by the Catholic Church.

Perhaps it is due to the nature of its origin- the magnitude ...

Carpets are lovely aren’t they? They do wonder to keep your feet warm and dress up the floor...yet all at the same time they are an absolute pain to maintain in pristine condition, especially if you love them in light colours. Carpets it would seem, (especially those light coloured ones) have the uncanny tendency to be a magnet for staining accidents.

This in fact happens so often in my house I can’t even see the funny side of it.  From guests dripping wine on them to baffling ink spots (it must be raining ink somewhere, but mostly I think it’s just my careless fiancé dropping ...

Dog '_' bed

I knew the day would come... it was just a matter of sooner or later and I guess that day was today. My beloved comfy pillows met their retirement...after many years of good service it was finally time to part with them. I’m still in disbelief...

Now as much of a green lover and supporter of sustainable living as I am, I’ll be honest to say I got creative with my old retired pillows for sentimental reasons and not so much green ones. I just couldn’t bear to part ...
