Usually when you describe jewelry as being earth friendly, you’d expect chunky pieces of unprocessed stones strung on a string. Well if you had that impression, you’re really not far from the truth, only you have to add ‘pricy’ to it then you’ve got the description down to a tee. But as with most things in life, there’s no harm in admiring it.
One such designer jewelry is that of which starts selling at £400.00 and stretches all the way up to 4 figures. I’ll have to add that her jewelry designs are an acquired taste but some are cute pretty. Every piece from Pippa Small isindividually hand made/crafted and unique. Her raw materials (stones) are sourced from fair trade and eco-friendly sources and her collections are in support of the worldwide movement to support tribal peoples. Pippa Small has worked with the San Bushmen of the Kalahari, the Batwa Pygmies of Rwanda, and the Kuna in Panama to help them to research their traditional designs to generate self-sufficiency and income. (Pippa Small is ambassador of Survival International)
The Pippa Small collection covers just about everything from cufflinks to earrings and are quite a sight. Personally I love the amethyst cufflinks (£400.00). Officially described as Uneven organic shapes, allowing the natural beauty and light play of the stones” I think they end up looking like a pair of pansies. Simple, yet unique…that’s what you can expect from a Pippa Small piece.
