Organic Wine for the holidays

December 8th, 2009 BY Angelina Leigh | No Comments

Christmas is just around the corner.  Everyone’s in the spirit and excited for the holiday. We’ve all begun our making our plans, begun executing them to make the Christmas of our dreams. We’ve made up our minds about what we’re serving for the Christmas dinner/lunch and planned it to the very minute detail…but even the best plans aren’t fools proof and sometimes in the mids of all the excitement we tend to overlook a thing or two.

I’m sure every green supporting family would incorporate the desire of serving a green Christmas meal into their plan but don’t forget the drinks. I can’t say for certain every family’s tradition is the same but chances are, there’s going to be wine served with the scrumptious meal and that too ought to be green.

Now I’m no “wine connoisseur” so I’m not making the representation that the following are going to be the best of the best (wine) but they are green and that’s one quality that I personally feel makes the drink more palatable and enjoyable.

Frog’s Leap

Firstly the website is adorable, it’s an interactive virtual farm with the farmer named Oscar and a frog named Lily as your guide. Navigation around the site is simple and the information is easily found. In the ‘red barn’, you’ll find the Frog’s Leap’s story on winemaking and the range of organic wines they provide (wine notes are available to help you decide).

Bonterra Vineyards

Organically farming since 1987, Bonterra Vineyards (Bonterra’s McNab Ranch) is where organic grapes make award-winning wines possessing an unparalleled intensity of flavour. They have Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Old Vine Petite Sirah blended in the Bordeaux style and aged in French oak, surely this is someone’s dream wine?

The Organic Wine Company & Organic Vintners
If you’re not sure where to look but you’re pretty sure the best tasting wines (green or not) come from certain countries, then you can visit The Organic Wine Company or Organic Vintners for a solution to your dilemma.  These companies are committed to importing a variety of wines produced using healthy and natural practices (100% certified organic grapes).

Now for the kiddies or anyone who likes a good drink only NON-ALCOHOLIC, I can recommend

So bottoms up everyone!
