I’ve always been blessed with good skin, not perfect because of its sensitivity to a truck load of allergens but good skin nonetheless. Growing up it was always clear, even in my teenage years all I had to do was keep to the rules – stay unexposed to unclean, dusty and particle filled environments (sounds terrible and impossible but I assure you it’s quite easily attainable).
I have never had acne issue nor any real pimple breakouts so imagine my horror when I suddenly had ‘spots breakout’ that began on my forehead and gradually 9more like overnight) spread all over my right cheek – here and now in adulthood too! When I first noticed it on my forehead, they were like a light rash, nothing alarming just tiny raised bumps and they weren’t even red, didn’t hurt a bit either. So I put it off to something hormone related (PMS works in mysteriously miserable ways) and would clear off on its own in a few days.
I was mortified to learn how wrong I was. The rash didn’t go away and in fact two pimples (yes actual pimples, those horrid red raised skin inflammations) had popped up right above my left eyebrow. I consoled myself it was all due to the stress at work and the consistently stubborn rash more likely due to a topical contact with an unknown/unnoticed allergen. (From previous experience I have learned to not rely on doctors/skin specialists because they have always gotten it wrong before getting it right, so I’ll always avoid them until there’s no other option)
But regardless of the cause, I swore not to let the condition get any worse. I applied a miracle mixture of nutmeg powder and milk before bed and immediately the next morning it started clearing up. I was overjoyed. I continued with the treatment for a few days and as I saw it all clearing up I just went back to my normal skin care routine. The pimples dried up and were fading off but then suddenly at least 6 other raised bumps appeared on my right cheek and another 3 new ones on my forehead. Rosewater always took away any redness but the bumps would never budge, I don’t even think they are pimples because they never look like there’s any puss in them.
At this point, I can honestly tell you how sick I am of it. If I didn’t quite understand the pains people with acne had before but I was certain I did now. Out of desperation, I took a tablespoon of Himalayan Salt from my kitchen cabinet and scrubbed my face (possibly raw even) with it in the bath. I know some would cringe at the thought and say I just scared myself for life but nope. The rash is gone, the pimple or not pimple spots are shrinking and disappearing – my skin never felt softer.
It worked so well that I used it on my fiancé back. He’s a huge fan of outdoors activities and bakes in the sun like nobody’s business – resulting effect mild case of milia. The salt is working great on it -the sun damage is clearing up and I’m happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, cheap and safe way to help with their skin care*.
*Please note that I am writing based on my own experience and whilst the salt and nutmeg treatment may work for me, it may not for others. Do take caution before trying anything on your skin- do a small patch test or if you have a pre-existing skin condition, consult your doctor before trying.
