If you’re into an all natural style of living then terms like aromatherapy, aromacology or holistic would not be at all alien to you. But the fact is there are more terms or should I say science then those three when one speaks of natural living like the lesser known science of phytotherapy.
We often hear of aromatherapy and holistic due to their glamorous popularity but not so much of aromacology because it is usually mistaken to be part of aromatherapy. However the well informed will know of the significant difference amongst the two. Phytoteraphy on the other hand is really quite just unheard of because it not something that you and I could conduct on our own at home – not without the aid and supervision of an expert that is.
You see pythoterapy is makes up part of alternative medicine as it is medical treatment which relies on the use of plants, either as a whole or in the form of extracts and essences. If you’re now thinking to yourself, that sounds just like homeopathy well I’ll solute you on that observation because you’re not at all wrong, however only partially correct. Briefly the identifying difference between the two is the fact that one (pythoterapy) is purely reliant on the use of plants or plant extracts for medicinal purposes while the other (homeopathy) is about the belief that the body in its own natural state possess the ability to heal ourselves, thus uses the body’s symptoms to identify which stimulants it needs to complete the healing processes in order to make ourselves well. These stimulants are usually 80% plant based (phythoteraphy) but also can be made up from animal and mineral products and diluted before use.
Phytotherapy is a medicinal treatment that is purely plant based but extends well beyond identifying which plant essence posses which healing property. Phytotheraphy covers everything from how the plants are grown, harvested, and processed in order for a very reliable and stable dose of active ingredients to be developed.
Phytotheraphy is all natural but that doesn’t mean it’s 100% safe. Just with any drug, it can be dangerous if used incorrectly (by dosage, contradictions, etc) and should never be used without proper guidance.
