I’m not great with makeup and I applaud the women and men who are. I mean it takes more than just skill to apply mascara and the falsies and blend them in seamlessly into your own natural almost non-existent ones, it takes patience and endurance. And sometimes the effect is so alluring, we just want to make them permanent, so we find ourselves turning to the same solution that we reach for when we want the hair on our head to be thicker, fuller and longer that it could ever naturally be. We turn to the use of extensions. Now I’ve never tried extensions but I can tell from my friends who do indulge in their use…it’s a beautiful sight but a painful endurance.
So here’s the hard cold fact about extensions – however much you paid for them, even with the best quality material used, they will eventually take a toll on your real hair/lashes and that will either deter you from ever using them again or turn you hopelessly addicted as your natural hair/lashes, now worse for wear are a sore sight without them.
I suppose we have to be realistic about what we are trying to achieve. No natural remedy is going to give you something off the pages of those glossy magazines but if you’re an avid user of cosmetics and extensions you’ll recognize how you need to (from time to time) help restore the health of your natural lashes.
So instead of running down to the store to buy those expensive chemically laced “eyelashes growth formulas” why not just go easy on the applications and use the time old remedy.
Castor Oil/ Olive oil/ Vitamin E Oil
Don’t worry, you won’t have to drink the oils to get pretty lashes. Instead as a nightly before dozing off regime, apply a dab of castor oil into your lashes (NOT your eyes). As you sleep the oils will enter the eyelash follicles and work to stimulate growth and regrowth.
Some people would recommend applying petroleum jelly like Vaseline before bed while others add to the regime a monthly trim but I’m not really comfortable with either so I just stick to Vitamin E oil.
