It’s gift giving season again...and if you can overlook how that spells disaster for your wallet or how it’s going to get you into a frustrating queue at the cashiers then rejoice because it’s Christmas shopping season again.  That special time of year where we look to brighten lives and warm hearts with the Christmas spirit.

But no dedicated Christmas gift shopper is without bother because the age old question/frustration always comes to mind, what would make the perfect gift? In my opinion for any gift to qualify as a good gift let alone a perfect one, it has to be:

  • 1.    Respectful of budget
  • 2.    Represent my thought for the recipient (love, kindness etc)
  • 3.    Light on my spirit (nothing that will weigh on my conscience as a sin against nature, animals of any other living soul- a bit deep but  hey it’s just for me)
  • 4.    Needed if not wanted by the recipient; and
  • 5.    Not in any way harmful or bad for the recipient.

And that’s really how I start with my Christmas shopping list – know the purpose, set the price and be firm on the selection.  Over the course of the weeks leading up to Christmas I’ll be sharing with you some Christmas gift suggestions (you’re open to add your suggestions), starting off with gifts for little girls in this article.

Now when it comes to little girls, I’ve got my heart set out on dolls this Christmas. Of course I don’t have Barbie in mind, I’m thinking about real dolls – lovely cotton dolls...
I’m not sure why but there’s just something about them- I think they are comforting, feminine and nurturing. Some people are great with their hands and whipping up a beautiful custom doll from leftover fabric is as easy as pie, but not everyone can sew or have the time to dedicate to such a project. So if you’re looking for some lovely dolls this Christmas, do consider the following: ‘

HONEYSUCKLE DREAMS
This store offers 100% ORGANIC COTTON dolls and I rather like them because they look so Raggedy Ann like. And if you think the little girls would much prefer an animal toy, then they have a very cute bunny you might want to look at (of course they have other animals too). Overall I would describe the designs of Honeysuckle Dreams’ dolls are simple, youthful and innocent.

Fairy Cove Silks
This one can be something you absolutely love, or become absolutely puzzled by. Me, I love it for the colours and the imaginations it will inspire. It’s not exactly a doll, in fact seems very similar to a dog’s toy as it’s made of  a 3"" Ball, insulated by wool batting and secured by 11"silk Coordinating Ribbon Tails. To most people it’s a ball wrapped with cloth, to me it looks very whimsical.

Baby Bunz and Co
Waldorf 'Sweetheart' Dolls are exactly that – sweethearts. They are really beautiful in the fashion of a Hansel and Gretel or maybe little red riding hood way. With hair of cotton yarn, a smooth cotton knit body, and pure wool stuffing that keeps its spring and cuddly softness, these dolls with their rosey cheeks and gorgeous yarn hair will be every girls delight.

Fairtrade Online Store
This store has got an abundance of choice for you to select from. The Organic Cotton Veggie Toys Set , I find it lovely but so are the Ecotoy Animals from Sri Lanka . All the toys are eco friendly and from a fair trade source.
So which is your pick?
