Mission Organic 2010

February 3rd, 2009 BY L.Angelina | No Comments

Everyone should have a mission in life. I’m certain I’m not the first one you’ve heard saying living a life without a purpose is no way to live a life. But I’m not here to preach about it because I’m not a life coach.

I’m just here to share with you about a mission that we should be all able to adopt without any real trouble.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you: Mission Organic 2010.

Now this mission is the brainchild of the good green folks over at the Organic Centre. Build on the idea of small steps but big impact; it’s a determined campaign with the noble goal of growing the present market demand from a meagre 3 percent to a significant 10 percent by 2010.

At present without doing anything extraordinary, just continuing with the present consumers buying pattern, The Organic Trade Association was able to project that that organic food sales will effortlessly reach about five percent by 2010.

So obviously you can see how the Organic Centre wants to double that achievement with your help.

So what’s your mission and what have you signed yourself up for when you subscribe to Mission Organic 2010?

Nothing much, just better health for you, your family, our planet and our farm animals, all in exchange for your promise to make at least 1 out of 10 items in your grocery cart/trolley/basket organic or at least 1 out of 10 of the meals you consume organic.

It really is that simple, no catch hidden because the mission focuses on the mechanisms of trade; which is how demand ultimately determines what is supplied. We get our strength from numbers so the more people and families we get to participate in the mission the bigger and faster the impact will show up.

I mean how difficult is it to just make 1 out of 10 of your choices green? And if you do it realise that you’re literally actively contributing to the following:

  • Eliminating pesticides and chemicals from drinking water.
  • Assuring that milk that is produced without antibiotics & genetically modified growth hormones.
  • Assuring that fruits and vegetables are grown pesticide-free
  • Eliminating the use of growth hormones, genetically engineered drugs and feeds thus ensuring animals are treated more humanely.
  • Fighting climate change by capturing an additional carbon in soil
  • Eliminating the requirements of annual imported oil
  • Restoring degraded soils to rich, highly productive cropland.
  • Lowering the incidence of neuro-developmental problems in children
  • Lowering the number of pre-term deliveries each year.
  • Eliminating dietary exposures to insecticides known to be developmental neurotoxins.
  • Reducing unwanted interference with our sex hormones
  • Does that not sound like a good deal? All those wonderful contributions

just from making one change in what you put into your grocery basket?

When you sign up to join the mission you will receive a free Organic Essentials Pocket Guide.

Now if you’re as sold as I am to the mission, then visit the Science page to learn about the scientific facts behind going organic and the Do Something page to learn how to make those changes.

Lets help spread the word, there’s a new mission in town and it needs OUR help to succed!
