Pet stains & odor

Having pets is pretty much like having kids, minus the need to watch Barney the purple dinosaur or Thomas the Train 13 times a day… Pets are like kids in the sense that they are adorable and loveable but they sometimes ‘have accidents’ which leaves your house in quite the muck.

As children could easily spill their drinks or ‘have misses’ on the toilet training sessions so could your pet puppy or kitty who could in the midst of playing tip over a glass you had on the table or took a leak where he shouldn’t because he couldn’t hold it in. It’s frustrating to see your perfect carpet or sofa all stained but there really isn’t a point getting all flustered and mad about it because it won’t make the stain go away.

However what would make it all go away are stain removers. And with pets you want more than just something that removes the stain. You will need something that removes odor and prevents them from ‘repeating’ at the spot so that old baking soda trick might not be enough in such situations.

What I can recommend then is an excellent product that was recommended to me by a friend. So far it has worked well for me. It’s cute little product called Simple Green Pet Stain & Odor Remover where you can spray it on the spot or if it’s some removable/washable upholstery we’re talking about (pillow covers, sofa covers, etc) then you can just pour directly into your wash (into the reservoir)

The cool little green product is Non-toxic and biodegradable so safe for people, pets & surfaces! But I do think you’d want to avoid trying it on ‘sensitive’ surfaces such as silk or suede. So far so good because there’s been no cases of resoiling or remarking after its use.

If you care to read more about the product, they’ve attached a Material Safety Data Sheet to detail their product. Honestly so far I’ve only used the pet stain & odor remover because it was a ‘gift’, courtery of someone but looking at their site, the company has other home cleaning products that you might want to consider.
