I love the series Miami Ink. The work Ami and his group produces are inspiration works of art…but I say that only from an art admirer’s point of view. I really wouldn’t step up to the plate if someone were to ask me would you care to get inked. And I’d chicken out for a few reasons:
- 1. The social taboo – tattoos are pretty as they are makes your skin a permanent canvas artwork. Regardless of what is said, tattoos are still taboo and they would stand in the way of a respectable career. Don’t get me wrong, all I’m saying it that people do lose out on getting ‘that’ job because of that ‘ink’.
- 2. Disease and infection- Anytime you play with needles, you’re putting your life at a risk. Is that little blob of colour or black worth chancing it?
- 3. Expectation factor – You pick out a perfect design but by some unlucky stroke of luck, it didn’t come out quite as you expected.
But I suppose that’s why they have ‘airbrush tattoos’. The ones where effects aren’t permanent, the process is pain free and you can have it all done in less than 20 minutes! What’s more, airbrush tattoo are eco friendly and ‘economical’!
The ink used are the product of harmless water based chemistry so there won’t be any side-effect to the human body. It’s economical because unlike conventional tattoos because even $10 can give you a beautiful little skin art.
They last for between 5-10 days and should you decide you’re bored of the design or you need to be ‘presentable’ for a meeting then you can always just wipe it off with some rubbing alcohol.
Personally I think airbrush tattoos are a great way for everyone, old and young to have some colourful fun.
Yesterday, between my husband and I, we got 6 tattoos airbrushed on us. I got 2 birds, while he got a raccoon and a seahorse, and as a couple’s thing we got a matching pair of pups etched on our chest. We’ve never done this before and We love it. In fact while I was getting mine sprayed on, a little girl who was probably no more than 4 years old fell in love with the idea and her very sporting mum got her 2 – a red flower and a four leave clover!
Airbrush tattoos are for everyone who wants that little zest in their life.
