When we hear eco-fashion, our thoughts tend to run straight to sustainable green clothes, shoes and accessories. But somewhere along that rush, we seem to forget that fashion is everywhere and how it also involves home furnishing!

And who relies on us more to provide for them a safe and comfortable heaven than our children? When you think eco-friendly fashion, don’t just think of how it’s good for the environment, think about how it is also vital to our young ones.

As a parent, your child’s safety and well being is one of your primary concerns. A tender tot’s immunity is very delicate; leaving them very susceptive to chemical/toxic poisoning. They don’t react to poisoning like adults do; they can’t tell you when something is wrong with them. They need you to recognize it for them.

Don’t forget how many kinds of poison there are out there with the ability to hide symptoms until its damage is too far done to be reversed.

Now while you may be cautious enough to lock up the obvious pesticides or fabric softener, are you careful enough to protect them from the unseen? Toxic chemicals are used in the production of almost everything these days, and that includes the items closest to the child such as their bedding sets, pacifiers, clothes and toys.

Any of those items could have a content of harmful chemicals and while they may not all result in fatal toxic poisoning; they can lead to multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) which is just as bad news for you and your baby.

That is why it’s so important for us to notice and realize that going organic should be beyond what we put into our stomachs, but also what comes in contact with our skin or our lungs.

Sure baby products are expensive (retailers and manufacturers always justify the ridiculous prices as how they require more work to make because of their tiny proportions) and looking for organic baby products would probably hike that cost up even higher. But at the end of the day how much do you think you really save when you expose your child to toxic cotton jumpers or lead tainted pacifiers?

Would you really want to risk your precious baby’s health in exchange for saving that extra $50? Is it really worth your while?

These days if you look a little harder, it is possible to find organic baby products that are comparable in price to the conventional ones. But if you still find they cost a bit more, remember that they do preserve your child’s health so the investment would be worth it. There are many brands out there that provide for all your baby’s eco-friendly needs like:

1.       Our Green House

2.       Kidbean

3.       EcoBaby (retailer for many eco friendly baby product brands)

4.       Nature’s Child
