Let’s face facts, regardless of how far we’ve moved on or how much we’ve achieved since the gender revolution (not exactly a revolution that has been won/achieved worldwide but we’ve getting there) there are always going to be some things that we can just never change, some things that will always be gender biased – and I’m talking about things that were just made that way by nature. Things such as how we women are always going to be:
- just that much more sensitive and caring than men,
- the one who carries the baby (and the excess baby weight paired with the gift of stretch-marks)
- driven crazy by our changing levels of hormones (PMS, Menopause, skin breakouts, insane mood swings and cravings),
- the gender that has to work-out double (possibly even triple) the amount that a man has to in order lose that same pound of fat,
- susceptible to certain health detriments (I know men have their own issues but I think we have more- I could be wrong but that’s not what this article is about anyway)…
Now the list could go on and on and on but I’m stopping here because it’s the health detriments that I’m interested in today.
You see as women, one of the easiest and most common infection we can get is the dreaded UTI. Sounds familiar? Well maybe the following will help you jog your memory. You know that horrible experience where you:
- Keep feeling like you have to go so badly but really don’t
- Have a burning sensation every time you urinate
- Experience pain on one side of your back under your ribs
- Have fever and chills.
- Have nausea and vomiting.
Yeah well that’s Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) for you.
It’s a very common infection and anyone could get it but women are just that much more susceptible to it. The usual treatment is with Antibiotics but for those of you who just hate being medicated then there are some sustainable home remedies to cure and prevent the occurrence/reoccurrence of UTI.
If you know that UTI is starting then:
- Drink lots of water to flush out the bacteria
- Refrain from bladder irritants such as tomatoes, aged cheese, chocolate, spicy food, caffeine, alcohol and nicotine
- Drink lots of Cranberry juice which will raise the citric acid level in your body
- Drink bitter gourd juice (taste very bitter but really works – plus it’s a great blood and liver tonic)
- Maintain good hygiene.
UTI is a pest and often quite harmless but like any other health complications can turn really nasty with long term effects if not taken seriously and treated accordingly.
