Fat…what can I say about this ‘magical’ word save for the fact that no one wants to be described as one and no one wants to be at the mercy of the health and social complications that comes attached to it. In fact we’re all so afraid of being associated with the word that we find ourselves attempting all sorts of desperate measures just to be saved from it. We try dangerous fad diets, risky slimming programs, colourful pills, invest thousands of dollars in exercise machines/devices when you’ll find that all we have to really do is just adopt a green lifestyle.
Believe it or not when I say you’ll get much more people listening to your talks on going green when you stress that green people do not get fat? Well it’s the truth…people are more conscious about weight gain than they are about saving the trees. And if you can somehow relate saving the trees to how they can preserve their present weight or help them lose some then really…they’d be all ears.
But don’t get me wrong because I’m not overselling the green lifestyle by fibbing about how being green keeps you lean because it really does.
1. The food choices
Weight gain’s first foe is processed food. Whatever tastes like sin is obviously sin so you can expect your chips, carbonated drinks, candy, etc to be just that. But if you lead a green lifestyle you’d be very conscious about what goes into your mouth. And far from how the popular belief goes, you won’t be starved for choices nor will you be eating food that taste like cardboard. Instead you’d be having a scrumptious healthy meal prepared without the nasty artificial additives/preservatives.
2. The exercise route
You really don’t need a fancy treadmill to help you lose the pounds. Making the sustainable choice to walk to work or the store will not only be beneficial to cutting down on your carbon footprints but also help you trim the fat while at it. Its win win situation, especially when you think about the fuel you could be saving!
