Some fabrics have just come to be internationally acclaimed. Even if you can’t even thread a needle or you don’t realise that a running stitch hasn’t got anything to do with that intense stabbing pain under the lower edge of the ribcage you have when you run a mile or so, you’d be able to recognise certain fabrics due to their unique prints.
Like how you’d recognise a sari material for the its bright colours and glamorous bits or the kimono fabric with its amazing Japanese designs (the waves, the crane, the chrysanthemum flowers), what else is more distinct than the tartan with its little criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colours that literally screams Scottish at sight!
Well I guess the appreciation for tartan isn’t for everyone – some love it, some think it’s a bit much but I adore it and I’m not even Scottish! But you know what, if you never had a real reason to love tartan before, then I think I may have a reason for you now!
So wearing full tartan attire (skirt, shirt, dress etc) would remind you of uniforms. Well that’s a fair assessment, but tartan can be worn beautifully on a daily basis without you being stared and glared at from every corner if you make it subtle. But if you’re still not quite up to wearing it as clothes then perhaps you’d consider a nice bag from Tartan Totes.
You see Tartan Totes is as Scottish and Scottish comes as it’s the brain child of a mother and daughter-in-law pair, originally from Scotland but now based in Nova Scotia.
Tartan Totes is where the tartan products are original, unique and environmentally friendly because the pair source out recycled Tartan fabric from the local community, friends, relatives and eBay to turn into beautiful totes, bags, purses and toys.
Trust me, you’ll find it amazing how attracted you’d be to that same tartan coat you wouldn’t dare wear once it’s turned into a bag! And the thought that the handle was once a belt (some were even once braces!) ought to intrigue you enough to want to take a peak.
Personally I love the bags because tartan just makes them special but the teddies, oh my goodness the cute teddies with their Scottish names like Donald, Hamish and Callum are just going to be a sell out. Just you see…
